Download OptionsHow to Prevent Common Scam Tactics?
BTCC Support9 days ago
As one of the world’s longest-standing cryptocurrency exchanges, BTCC is committed to providing a safe and transparent trading environment. To help users enhance their asset security awareness, this article outlines common scam tactics in the cryptocurrency market and key prevention points. Please stay vigilant and protect your assets.
I. Common Scam Tactics
Phishing (Fake Platforms)
In the cryptocurrency industry, phishing is one of the most common scam tactics. Scammers may create phishing websites featuring the BTCC logo or keywords, and spread messages via SMS, email, or Telegram groups with false pretexts such as “account upgrade,” “system migration,” “asset clearing,” “risk control triggered,” or “abnormal funds,” luring users to click phishing links and stealing their assets.
Please note that once you disclose your account, password, SMS verification code, email verification code, or Google verification code, the assets in your account may be quickly stolen. Be sure to recognize BTCC’s official website: https://www.btcc.com/ and beware of entering phishing sites.
Fake Apps
Scammers impersonate official apps such as BTCC and induce users to download fake apps carrying trojan viruses, which then tamper with deposit/withdrawal addresses and result in asset theft.
When downloading or updating the BTCC mobile app, always use official channels to avoid counterfeit BTCC apps. Click the download icon on the right side of the website’s navigation bar to scan and download the app, or go directly to the official download page and select the client you need.
Impersonating BTCC Staff
Scammers impersonate BTCC customer service or other staff and, using reasons such as “account anomaly” or “assets frozen,” induce users to provide verification codes, private keys, or to make transfers. Please note that BTCC official customer service will not proactively contact users under such pretexts to request sensitive account information.
Scammers may even pose as law-enforcement or judicial authorities, adding social accounts or calling from virtual numbers to exploit users’ fear and, under the guise of “removing account risk” or “cooperating with a security check,” steal account information or induce users to withdraw or transfer funds.
In addition, fake customer service may contact you to perform remote sharing to “guide operations” on your account. They may claim to verify whether it is your own operation and request your mobile verification code, Google verification code, or authorization for remote login to steal account information, or provide false information to drive you to operate on phishing sites or fake software.
Fake Partnerships
Scammers may pose as institutions, projects, or individuals that “partner with BTCC,” claiming to offer deposit assistance or investment advice, and guide users to purchase digital assets via BTCC and then withdraw them to other platforms or addresses, ultimately causing asset loss. Stay alert, verify official partner information, and never trust investment or transfer suggestions from non-official channels.
In addition, some scammers misuse the BTCC brand to commit fraud under the name of “project investment” or “about to be listed.” Please note that any asset transactions involving project investment must be confirmed with BTCC to avoid being deceived. All BTCC project-cooperation information is subject to BTCC’s official disclosures; you can find authentic and up-to-date information in the announcements on the official website.
Fake Promotions on Social Media
This type of fraud often begins when users receive a promotional notice via social media channels (e.g., Telegram, LINE). These promotions usually require users to transfer digital assets such as BTC or ETH to designated wallets and promise high returns. Once assets are transferred to the scammers’ wallet, the funds are irrecoverable.
Impersonated Accounts
Scammers may add your Telegram or other social accounts and request your email, then send links or QR codes that induce you to enter account information, logins, and bank details after clicking—stealing your assets through a series of operations. Also beware of fake BTCC social-media accounts; always check the account profile details and compare them with those on the official website.
Fake Assistance
Under the guise of “assistance,” scammers prompt users to add contacts and ultimately demand transfers in the name of “a mentor leading trades,” thereby committing fraud.
Impersonated Groups
Scammers create groups by impersonating BTCC official accounts, using pretexts such as “airdrop,” “project listing,” “swap,” “yield,” or “smart contract,” and claim to be so-called “BTCC official” groups.
Please Note:
1. Anyone who unilaterally claims to be a BTCC partner or impersonates BTCC official personnel may be committing fraud.
2. BTCC officials will not privately message any user to request transfers, verification codes, private keys, etc.
3. Do not trust transfer requests from strangers. If you have any doubts, please contact our official customer service for confirmation promptly.
II. How to Prevent Fraud
1. Be wary of unfamiliar links; never disclose critical information
Exercise caution with links from unknown sources and do not click them casually. Do not disclose wallet mnemonic phrases, private keys, or SMS verification codes to anyone.
2. Strengthen account-security management; update passwords regularly
Do not use the same BTCC login information as on other platforms. Change your account password regularly and ensure it is complex and unique.
3. Verify the source of information; stick to official channels
All BTCC-related events, announcements, and notices are subject to releases on the official website (btcc.com). Do not access the platform by clicking ads or links via Google or other search engines; we recommend typing the URL manually.
4. If you encounter account issues, contact official customer service first
If you have any questions about your account, contact customer service via the BTCC official website or app and describe your situation in detail. (btcc.com)
5. Verify official identity
If you encounter emails, phone numbers, URLs, X (Twitter), Telegram, or other social-media accounts claiming to be “official personnel,” you can use the BTCC “Official Verification” to verify.

Risk warning: Digital asset trading is an emerging industry with bright prospects, but it also comes with huge risks as it is a new market. The risk is especially high in leveraged trading since leverage magnifies profits and amplifies risks at the same time. Please make sure you have a thorough understanding of the industry, the leveraged trading models, and the rules of trading before opening a position. Additionally, we strongly recommend that you identify your risk tolerance and only accept the risks you are willing to take. All trading involves risks, so you must be cautious when entering the market.
