Sensex, Nifty 50 off day’s low, turns positive; HUL & Jio Financial lead gainers

Indian markets pulled off a midday reversal—because why make things easy for retail traders?

HUL and Jio Financial emerged as unlikely heroes, dragging indices out of the red. Because nothing says 'stable growth' like a telecom spin-off and soap sales.

The real question: Will this stick, or is it just another dead-cat bounce in a market addicted to volatility?

Top gainers & losers intraday

Among the Sensex firms, Hindustan Unilever, Jio Financial, JSW Steel, Eternal and Power Grid lead the gainers, while Asian Paints, Adani Enterprises, Titan, Reliance and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories declined 1 per cent.Nearly 1,059 stocks advanced and 1,688 declined of all the 2,839 stocks that were traded on the National Stock Exchange at the time of writing.

Maharashtra Scooters, Ramco Cements, Coromandel International, Cartrade Tech featured among 57 stocks that hit a 52-week high. 39 stocks such as Indo Tech Transformers, Dreamfolks and Ease My Trip hit a 52-week low.

Orchid Pharma and 55 others traded at the upper circuit, while 48 stocks, including Zen Tech, V2Retail traded at the lower circuit.

Midcap & smallcap movers

Under the midcap segment, Aditya Birla Capital, APL Apollo, Tata Communications, Paytm and Mazagon Dock gained 1-3 per cent, while Waaree Energies, Indus Towers, and Premier Energies declined nearly 4 per cent.

Sagility rallied 9 per cent post Q1 results among the smallcap segment. Delhivery, Aster DM and Poonawalla gained 3-4 per cent.

On the flip side, Sonata Software, Welspun Living, Aarti Industries, Redington and IGIL fell 4-5 per cent.

On the BSE, HEG, Greaves Cotton, Kaynes Tech and Sanghvi Movers soared 6-14 per cent. PGIL, Apar Industries, Strides Pharma dragged 6-8 per cent.
