1. Probability of Fed Rate Hike This Week Rises to Around 90%

Interest-rate futures now price roughly a 90% probability of a 25-basis-point Fed rate hike on Wednesday. If delivered, the federal funds target range would rise to 3.75%–4.00%, marking the first rate increase under Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh.

2. Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, HSBC and Deutsche Bank All Shift to Forecast a Rate Hike This Week

US inflation data and oil prices above $100 have changed Wall Street’s policy outlook. Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, HSBC and Deutsche Bank now all expect the Fed to raise rates by 25 basis points this week. JPMorgan also expects another rate increase later this year.

3. US 10-Year Treasury Yield Breaks Above 5% for First Time Since 2023

The US 10-year Treasury yield briefly moved above 5% overnight, its first break above that level since October 2023. High oil prices, sticky inflation, heavy government debt issuance and financing demand from AI companies are all pushing long-term rates higher, making the bond market a renewed source of pressure on global risk assets.

4. Iran-Gulf Talks on Strait of Hormuz Shipping Delayed Again

A planned meeting between Iran and Gulf Arab states on safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz has been postponed, further reducing expectations for a near-term normalization of shipping. Oil prices have remained above $100 as a result, with a persistently elevated risk premium.

5. Canada August CPI Holds at 3% as Gasoline Prices Remain 22.8% Higher

Canada’s August CPI rose 3.0% year-on-year, unchanged from July, while falling 0.1% month-on-month. Gasoline prices were up 22.8% year-on-year, while food inflation eased to 2.8%. The Bank of Canada’s closely watched CPI-median and CPI-trim measures remained around 2.0% and 1.9%, respectively.

6. All Three Major US Indexes Fall as S&P 500 Remains Under Pressure

The Dow fell 0.29% on Monday to 52,421.20, the S&P 500 declined 0.48% to 7,619.98, and the Nasdaq dropped 0.56% to 26,186.41. Selling in AI hardware stocks, rising oil prices and the US 10-year Treasury yield breaking above 5% combined to weigh on risk appetite.

7. Philadelphia Semiconductor Index Plunges 5.86% as AI Hardware Stocks Face Heavy Selling

Expectations for slower AI development hit one of the market’s hottest hardware trades. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index plunged 5.86% overnight, Nvidia fell 3.36%, Micron dropped 5.25%, and both Broadcom and AMD lost more than 4%. SK Hynix’s US ADR fell 7.6%.

8. OpenAI Reportedly Pushes IPO Back to at Least 2027

As the debate over AI safety intensifies, Sam Altman said moving ahead with an OpenAI listing this year would not be appropriate, suggesting an IPO could be delayed until at least 2027. Markets are increasingly focused on whether slower AI development could affect capital spending plans for chips, data centers and major cloud providers.

9. Bitcoin Reclaims $78,000, Gains Around 2.4% in 24 Hours

Latest CoinMarketCap data showed Bitcoin trading around $78,760, up about 2.4% over 24 hours and briefly approaching $79,000 intraday. Despite continued increases in Treasury yields and oil prices, the crypto market rebounded overnight, with Bitcoin dominance near 58.9%.

10. ETH Gains More Than 3%, SOL Reclaims $103, XRP Jumps Nearly 10%

ETH was last trading around $2,593, up roughly 3.4% over 24 hours, while SOL climbed about 3.5% to around $103. Among the largest crypto assets by market capitalization, XRP stood out with a gain of about 9.3%, signaling a clear short-term improvement in crypto risk appetite.

11. CLARITY Act Faces Key US Senate Procedural Vote

The US Senate is scheduled to vote at 2:00 p.m. local time on September 15 on a motion to end debate on the CLARITY Act. At least 60 votes are needed for the bill to advance, making the vote a key milestone in the current round of US crypto market-structure legislation.

12. White House Crypto Adviser Says He Feels “Very Good” About CLARITY Act Vote

White House crypto policy adviser Patrick Witt said the administration has done its best to address issues raised during negotiations and described the current text as its “best and final offer.” With Republicans holding only 53 Senate seats, the procedural motion will still require support from some Democrats or independents.

13. Strategy Goes a Second Straight Week Without Buying BTC, Repurchases $139 Million of STRC

Strategy disclosed that it neither bought nor sold Bitcoin between September 8 and 13, leaving its holdings unchanged at 845,050 BTC. Over the same period, the company used US dollar cash reserves to repurchase roughly 1.42 million shares of STRC preferred stock for approximately $139.3 million.

14. Strive Buys More Bitcoin, Lifting Total Holdings Above 25,000 BTC

Strive disclosed that it spent approximately $36.6 million on another Bitcoin purchase, lifting its total holdings above 25,000 BTC and making it the fifth-largest public-company Bitcoin holder globally. The company had purchased 1,375 BTC for roughly $109 million the previous week.

15. DeFi Development Adds 55,491 SOL, Holdings Rise to 2.39 Million

Nasdaq-listed DeFi Development said its SOL and SOL-equivalent holdings increased by 55,491, bringing the total to approximately 2.39 million. The company also established a $300 million at-the-market program for CHAD perpetual preferred stock, with proceeds primarily intended for further SOL purchases.

16. BitMine Adds Another 27,180 ETH

According to The Block, BitMine has continued expanding its ETH treasury, adding another 27,180 ETH. As digital-asset treasury strategies spread among listed companies, corporate ETH reserves remain an important part of recent institutional capital flows.
