Bitcoin (BTC) Price Could Hit $400K by 2030, Says Coinbase’s Armstrong
cryptonewsDuring a September 10 interview with CNBC, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong stated that a Bitcoin price of $400,000 by 2030 represents a “reasonable target.” Achieving this milestone would require approximately a 420% surge from Bitcoin’s present trading level near $76,930.
Armstrong’s optimistic projection draws heavily on Bitcoin’s established four-year cycle pattern. He emphasized that downturns typically persist for roughly one year, and the current correction has just crossed that threshold.
“Most of the down periods last about a year, and we have actually just come across the 1-year mark for this down period, so I personally believe that the bottom is in on BTC in its most recent cycle,” Armstrong said.
Armstrong also highlighted two critical upcoming catalysts that market participants are monitoring closely. The CLARITY Act is scheduled for a procedural Senate vote on September 15, while the next Bitcoin halving event is expected approximately 18 to 19 months from now.
The Coinbase executive cited several factors underpinning his bullish long-term perspective: increasing ETF demand, anticipated White House intervention with regulatory bodies, and Bitcoin’s hardcoded supply cap of 21 million coins. Armstrong further suggested that Bitcoin has strong odds of reclaiming the $100,000 price level before 2026 concludes.
Notably, this $400,000 projection represents a more conservative estimate compared to Armstrong’s previous forecast calling for $1 million by 2030.
Market Analyst Forecasts Explosive 1.6-Year Window
Market analyst Jesse Myers analyzed Bitcoin’s historical halving patterns to project potential future performance. His research revealed that Bitcoin surged approximately 100x following the 2012 halving, 30x after 2016, and 8x following 2020, before market participants began anticipating the 2024 event.
“If the same pattern plays out this cycle, the next 1.6 years could be the most explosive time for BTC,” Myers wrote. His model puts Bitcoin at $232,000 by the April 2028 halving, then $464,000 by late 2029.
Binance founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao also weighed in, saying Bitcoin could overtake gold in the next bull run. “The market gives you plenty of opportunities to enter. All you have to do is to make the right decisions,” CZ said on Thursday.
Bitcoin ETF Data Reveals Potential Weakness
Blockchain analytics platform Glassnode observed that US spot Bitcoin ETFs have recovered to approach their break-even threshold, with institutional acquisition costs now serving as a key resistance level.
ETF products attracted $986.9 million during the week ending September 4, marking the continuation of a three-week inflow streak totaling approximately $3.8 billion. However, the current week reveals $166.9 million in net outflows, potentially ending this positive momentum if the trend persists.
According to Polymarket data, 64% of prediction market participants believe Bitcoin will achieve $85,000 by December 31, 2026.
