After enduring the long silence of the bear market, the memecoin frenzy cycle has arrived once again.

Risk appetite across the market has fully recovered, and it feels like we're back in 2024. This isn't just happening on Solana; it's now also occurring on Robinhood Chain, an L2 blockchain that launched only two months ago. Beyond the hot on-chain memecoin trading, the Robinhood Chain ecosystem has already produced business models that generate real revenue.

For example, Pons is the primary token issuance platform on Robinhood Chain, where users can issue and trade new tokens. It has now entered the top ten in the crypto industry's revenue rankings, second only to the leading token issuance platform Pump.fun.

As platform revenue surged, the Pons token formed a positive self-reinforcing loop, with its market cap once exceeding $900 million. Early investors reaped huge gains, and it became a benchmark asset for the entire ecosystem and even the broader market. Cashcat was the first memecoin from this chain to break out, while Pons lowered the barrier for ordinary people to launch memecoins.

After that, the market saw a large number of coins with astonishing gains, drawing back a group of veteran players who had once declared the end of the crypto industry.

The current market is indeed full of money-making opportunities, with profit and loss screenshots being shared everywhere, but in reality, the vast majority of profit screenshots are not genuine.

Trading memecoins is the most volatile investment activity: gains of a hundredfold in the morning can retrace 99% by nightfall. Ordinary investors often enter too late, while insiders, front-running snipers, and early buyers have already secured low-priced chips.

Others' hefty profits do not mean you can profit as well. Memecoin liquidity is extremely thin, and paper gains do not equal realized profits.

This article will teach you how to trade steadily in this game-theoretic market, avoid massive losses, earn your own returns, and not become the exit liquidity for whales.

To trade memecoins well, you must develop a complete trading plan. Blindly entering the market just because you see others posting profits is the wrong start. You need to be clear about your trading direction, otherwise you will only chase trends and end up with nothing.

Choose a Fixed Trading System

The memecoin sector is extremely saturated, and new projects change rapidly. If you cannot manage your attention, the massive amount of noise will only drain your energy.

You need to identify the specific trading sub-strategy you focus on, manage your attention, and continuously improve your trading skills—this is especially important for beginners. There are various trading styles in the market:

  • Conviction traders: lock in a trading thesis, hold heavy positions over a time period, and wait for the market to play out.
  • Copy trading: track the wallets of many top traders; when multiple tracked wallets buy the same coin simultaneously, conduct in-depth research and leverage others' trading logic to build your own judgment.
  • Short-term scalpers: get in early on small coins with a market cap of only $100,000 and take profits at target prices. For example, sell 50% of the position after the coin doubles, and let the remaining position ride for higher gains.
  • Single-chain specialists: lock onto one blockchain where you have an information edge, continuously scan newly issued memecoins, and capture asymmetric return opportunities.

There are many more approaches. Experienced traders can try multiple strategies simultaneously, but beginners should avoid spreading themselves too thin. Prioritize mastering one or two trading styles and concentrate your efforts.

As your trading experience accumulates and your skills improve, then try expanding into other trading styles. The most effective way I improved my trading skills early on was to keep a complete record of every trade, whether profitable or losing.

Why did I lose? What was the core logic behind the profit? What were the conditions for exiting with a stop-loss? What was the bullish thesis for this trade, and what risk points would invalidate that logic?

A trading journal is the best way to hone your memecoin trading skills. Stop blindly aping into shitcoins; every move should have solid trading logic. Traders who have been through full bull and bear cycles and caught countless dark horse coins have even more trading principles.

Some may think frequent short-term trading is easier. But for beginners, short-term trading without clear logic is hard to turn into consistent profits. It's better to pick quality early-stage targets and hold long-term based on your own judgment—returns are often higher than frequently trading shitcoins.

As copy trading becomes more widespread, traders no longer need to manually scan on-chain data or pay gas fees separately to complete trades. Some veteran players still stick to traditional methods, but trying new tools is also a good option—convenient tools can lower the barrier to making money.

Below are two mainstream social trading apps: Pump.fun and Fomo App.

Fomo App

If you've been active in crypto communities recently, you've definitely seen many users posting their Fomo App trading P&L and using the app to trade memecoins. The product's popularity stems from simplifying the complex process of memecoin trading: gas fees, token approvals, and other tedious steps are all packaged and simplified—just one click to buy a memecoin.

The product supports buying tokens directly with a bank card, a feature that has driven mass adoption. Fomo App now has over 500,000 users and ranks in the top ten of crypto revenue rankings.

What truly sets Fomo App apart is that it breaks down closed circles. In the past, players who made big money in memecoin rallies were mostly in private communities; now you can directly follow profitable traders, see the trading logic behind each coin, and if you agree with their views, copy their trades with one click.

When I first downloaded Fomo App, I followed about 20 crypto community influencers, then switched back to X. My phone kept buzzing with notifications, one after another...

The flood of push notifications overwhelmed me; I had no idea which coin to buy, and in the end I had to turn off app notifications just to focus on the market. Later, I figured out the right way to use the tool.

Profit screenshots are only surface-level; don't blindly copy trades based solely on posted gains.

The most common mistake beginners make with Fomo App: opening the leaderboard and bulk-following 20 top traders.

Then an endless stream of trade notifications pops up, just like what happened to me. Emotional, random buying and impulsive trading ultimately lead to losses.

Most of these flashy gains are just unrealized paper profits, not actual realized profits. In the past 60 days, only 0.25% of traders made more than $500 in profit. These profit screenshots do not reflect the true state of market profitability.

Personally, I pay more attention to the 30-day leaderboard and all-time rankings, filtering for traders with long-term consistent profits, rather than those on single-day windfall or short-term 7-day leaderboards.

The core purpose of checking leaderboards is to learn from top traders and analyze why they always manage to catch new narrative coins early.

When filtering traders, prioritize familiar quality traders: those with a public track record of long-term consistent profits and who fully articulate their trading logic—we can borrow from their analytical frameworks.

Don't follow traders in bulk; pick at most 5-7 quality accounts to avoid diluting your attention. Quality traders who truly trade on logic don't open positions frequently—every trade notification carries reference value, not meaningless noise.

Kyle is a well-known trader in the crypto community with impressive gains on Fomo App. Looking at his holdings, $PONS is his largest position; clicking on the coin lets you see his full trading thesis. After reviewing his four core trades, I summarized his trading strategy:

  • Hold positions firmly for the long term, building heavy positions early in the trend
  • Publicly share the complete bullish thesis for others to reference

Once you've identified his strategy, copy trading becomes much easier, but it's not effortless. Rasmr, a well-known Fomo App player, has also shared practical trading tips: how to identify market catalysts and screen for coins with upside potential.

Your trading speed must be ahead of other copy traders.

The biggest mistake beginners make with Fomo App is following the crowd and one-click copy trading with everyone else. If your only edge is blindly syncing orders, your returns will match the vast majority of retail traders. You need to act earlier than ordinary copy traders.

Automated trading is the best solution—you don't need to build tools from scratch; existing apps can do it. This approach isn't for complete beginners; it's for investors who don't have time to stay up all night watching notifications and want to automate memecoin trading.

Select the top trader accounts you want to track, search for their usernames, set automated copy trading parameters, and the strategy runs automatically. Important reminder: this method carries extremely high risk—your capital's gains and losses depend entirely on the skill of the traders you follow.

Fomo App also has some easily overlooked useful features.

Trending leaderboard: This is my favorite feature—it gives a direct view of the hottest narratives in the market right now, helps predict where the market is heading, shows which assets are attracting concentrated capital, and aids in deciding whether to enter. I usually check the top ten coins first, research the reasons behind short-term dips, and assess whether there's a rebound opportunity.

The trending tokens feature is similar, showing the tokens with the highest current attention. Tokens with the highest holdings tend to have larger market caps. As the name suggests, capital is concentrated in these tokens. But on the trending page, you'll see more lower-cap tokens because they're only hot for the day—though they could also become the most-held tokens.

That's why I pay extra attention here—by carefully studying the narrative logic, it's easy to catch dark horse coins. Ultimately, the core driver behind a coin's rise is the community consensus built around its narrative.

Pump.fun

Pump.fun's logic for filtering quality traders is largely the same as Fomo App's. Pump.fun's leaderboard is divided into three categories: total gains, realized gains, and unrealized paper gains.

Fomo App's leaderboard only counts unrealized gains. Combining the three metrics, I place more weight on traders who consistently take profits and realize gains; at the same time, I observe the profit-taking levels and accumulation methods of traders with unrealized gains, applying the same analytical approach we used for Fomo traders.

Trading on Pump.fun also has an additional incentive mechanism: Callout referral rewards. If you're bullish on a coin, you can post a recommendation to all your followers. Pump.fun distributes Callout rewards daily to incentivize users to post high-quality content, with reward amounts tied to the buy volume generated by your recommendations. Data shows that 87% of users who received rewards had fewer than 250 followers—small and mid-sized accounts have more opportunities.

A word of caution: don't spam the platform with token shilling just to farm rewards—the program has strict user agreements.

If you've read this far, it means you're serious about diving deep into on-chain memecoin trading. Copy trading completely changed the trading model of the 2024 memecoin bull run.

Although I have a few more tools in mind to list, there's really no need to overwhelm yourself with too many tools. In fact, Smartestmoney, a top trader earning millions of dollars a year, once said he has never used TradingView. That alone shows that tools are ultimately just tools.

Your persistence, mindset, experience, and more are the keys to success in trading. Wishing you catch the green candles!
