Race to Replace Powell Narrowed Down to Five Finalists

Litecoin surges as market sentiment turns decisively bullish - traders are now positioning for a potential breakthrough at the $400 psychological barrier.

The Silver to Bitcoin's Gold

Litecoin's recent performance has crypto veterans nodding in approval. The digital asset has consistently outperformed expectations, building steady momentum while flashier competitors grab headlines but deliver little substance. Technical indicators suggest this isn't just another pump-and-dump scheme - the fundamentals actually support the price action for once.

Institutional Interest Heats Up

Whale accumulation patterns show sophisticated money moving into LTC positions, with several major funds quietly building exposure. The timing aligns perfectly with broader crypto market recovery, though Litecoin seems to be attracting more than its fair share of smart money. Maybe they actually read the whitepaper this time instead of just following Elon Musk's tweets.

Market Mechanics Favor Breakout

Trading volume has surged 47% above monthly averages while volatility remains surprisingly contained - a classic indicator of sustainable momentum. Resistance levels at $380 have already been tested twice, with each retest building stronger support foundations. The $400 target now appears less like wishful thinking and more like an inevitable stopping point on the way higher.

Of course, in crypto land, 'inevitable' usually means 'about to get rug-pulled by someone named MoonBoy6969' - but this time feels different. The charts don't lie, even if the project names often do.

The five contenders are Fed Governors Christopher Waller and Michelle Bowman, National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett, former Fed Governor Kevin Warsh, and BlackRock (BLK) Fixed Income CIO Rick Rieder.

Bessent Set to Lead Final Interviews Before Trump Makes the Final Call

The next round of interviews will take place over the coming weeks and months, although the Treasury officials said they might not begin until after Thanksgiving due to other commitments from Bessent. After the interviews, Bessent will then brief President Trump, who will make the final decision.

In addition, Trump’s choice will likely be first nominated as a Fed Governor before being elevated to Chair, which could occur as early as January. Powell’s term as Chair is set to end in May, although his term as Governor continues until January 31, 2028.
