Fusaka represents Ethereum’s second major network enhancement in 2025. The previous Pectra fork launched in May and triggered a 29% price increase in ETH.

The hard fork merges two separate improvements. The Osaka execution LAYER upgrade combines with the Fulu consensus layer update. Together they deliver changes focused on scalability, security, and network stability.

The upgrade also refines how blob fees work. EIP-7918 ties blob pricing to actual network congestion. This protects the network’s economic security while making costs more predictable for developers.

Node operators are preparing for a higher block gas target of 60 million. This allows the network to handle more overall activity.

Authentication and Security Updates

Fusaka adds native support for secp256r1 curve cryptography. This enables passkey-style logins using Apple Secure Enclave and Android Keystore. Users can authenticate without managing seed phrases.

Sharplink CEO Joseph Charom described Fusaka as “a massive milestone for Ethereum and its institutional adoption journey.” The passkey feature could accelerate institutional use by removing technical barriers to entry.

The upgrade introduces Blob-Parameter-Only forks. These allow developers to adjust blob capacity targets and limits without requiring a full network hard fork. Ethereum can now respond faster to changing rollup demand.

The Ethereum Foundation documentation explains that PeerDAS lets nodes verify data availability by sampling small data portions across the network. This reduces bandwidth requirements while supporting greater blob capacity.

The network will add capacity in stages. More changes are scheduled for December 9 and January 7. The phased approach helps developers adjust gradually.

Market Reaction and Price Outlook

One crypto analyst posted a bullish forecast following the upgrade announcement. He expects ethereum price to climb more than 100% and called the setup “the biggest ETH outperformance this cycle has seen.”
