Crypto Ransom Hoax Sparks Panic: 32 Delhi Schools Hit by Fake Bomb Threats

Another day, another crypto-linked scam—this time weaponizing fear against schools.

Extortion Goes Digital

Thirty-two Delhi schools became collateral damage in a brazen crypto ransom hoax, with bomb threats sent to sow chaos. No explosives found—just another case of bad actors exploiting blockchain’s anonymity for old-school terror tactics.

The Playbook: Fear Sells

Attackers followed the classic script: threaten, demand crypto payments, vanish. Authorities confirmed zero legitimacy—but not before evacuations and headlines did the damage. Who needs real bombs when FUD works just as well?

Cynical Finance Jab

At least this scam had clearer ROI than most altcoins.

Bottom Line

Another reminder: crypto’s promise of decentralization cuts both ways. For every DeFi innovator, there’s a grifter turning Satoshi’s vision into a weapon. Delhi’s schools got lucky—this time.

Group Claims Data Breach Threatens Immediate Action

The threatening email sent by the group included ominous warnings to evacuate immediately and avoid alerting authorities. “Pay $5,000 in crypto to our ethereum address within 72 hours, or we will detonate the bombs,” the email warned, as per local reports. “Evacuate now to save lives. We don’t forgive. We don’t forget. Send the money or face the consequences.”

The group also claimed to have hacked into school IT systems, stolen sensitive data belonging to students and staff, and gained control of campus surveillance systems.

The affected schools include Global School, BGS International, Dwarka International, Oxford Foundation in Baba Haridas Nagar, Shri Ram International in Najafgarh, Andhra School in Prasad Nagar, among others, located across Dwarka, New Delhi.

DPS Dwarka promptly took action, considering the safety and well-being of the students, and closed the operation on Monday, issuing a message to parents.

Not the First Threat

This incident is an addition to the wave of bomb hoaxes targeting schools in Delhi in recent months. In July, a series of emails delivered over four consecutive days targeted more than 45 schools and three colleges, all of which were later confirmed to be false alarms.

Officials have urged calm and cooperation as investigations into the group behind the threats continue despite the panic and logistical disruptions. Cybercrime departments are examining digital breadcrumbs to determine the origin and purpose of ‘The Terrorizers 111 Group.’
