Higher education just got a major blockchain upgrade—and traditional diploma mills should be watching closely.

The Paper Chase Ends Here

Indonesia's largest university is ditching antiquated record-keeping systems for immutable blockchain verification. No more lost transcripts, no more degree verification delays—just instant, cryptographically secure credential validation that travels with graduates throughout their careers.

Trustless Education Infrastructure

The system creates permanent, tamper-proof digital records that employers can verify with a single click. Forget calling registrar offices during business hours—blockchain never sleeps, doesn't take coffee breaks, and definitely doesn't lose files in bureaucratic purgatory.

Universities worldwide are watching this rollout closely. If successful, we could see entire education systems migrating to decentralized verification networks—potentially saving millions in administrative costs while eliminating credential fraud entirely.

Because nothing terrifies traditional institutions quite like technology that actually works as advertised—especially when it removes their monopoly on verification services.

AI laboratory development

As per the official blog post, UGM is also setting up a new on-campus AI lab. This lab will educate students on how to generate, deploy, and monetize applications with Dreamspace, an on-chain AI app generator built on Space and Time. The curriculum is designed to prepare them for success in the AI economy.

Dr. Danang Sri Hadmoko, Vice Rector for Partnership at UGM, stated, “By giving them the ability to build and deploy AI applications and prove what they’ve learned, Space and Time is helping us prepare our graduates to compete globally and lead in the next wave of technology. This industry-academia partnership enables UGM to be an AI-ready university in the long run.”

Partnership with Indomobil

Executives from Indomobil as well as Space and Time shared their views on the partnership. Jusak Kertowidjojo, President Director of Indomobil Group, said that the initiative is part of their commitment to national development, empowering Indonesian students with “world-class tools and global access.” Scott Dykstra, Co-Founder and CTO of Space and Time. He added that the goal is to empower the next generation to “create, prove, and own their work.”

Further, future commercial programs are already in development. The partnership is a sign of growing blockchain and AI technologies in Indonesia’s education sector. This shows a commitment to digital innovation and preparing students for the future workforce.
