Trump Memecoin’s $420 ’Dinner with POTUS’ Gimmick Sparks 300% Rally—Because 2025 Crypto Markets Reward Spectacle Over Substance
What costs $420 and smells like desperation? The latest Trump-themed memecoin stunt that just mooned on pure political clout. A token promising "dinner with the 45th president" initially priced the perk at $420—a cheeky nod to crypto’s favorite meme number—before the market decided three times that price was fair for a hypothetical steak date.
The pump proves two truths: 1) Politico-financial grift migrates to the chain with lowest friction, and 2) TradFi’s "stable returns" pitch can’t compete with dopamine hits from watching degenerate gamblers chase the next TrumpCoin or NotTrumpCoin.
Meanwhile in Washington: regulators sharpen their knives while this circus makes Bitcoin’s 10% daily swings look like a Treasury bill.
Leaderboard to determine winners
In a post on X, the Trump memecoin team explained that many users mistakenly identified the 220th wallet address on the block explorer as the cutoff point.
The team stressed that this figure is misleading, as it includes exchange wallets, locked tokens, and addresses not eligible for the competition.
According to them, only wallets listed on the official leaderboard, which tracks time-weighted holdings, are eligible. They stated:
“The field is wide open and it’s anyone’s opportunity to have Dinner with President Trump. You must register on the leaderboard if you want to participate. The sooner the better. Your score is based on your time-weighted holdings during the competition.”
As of press time, the “Sun” wallet tops the leaderboard with more than 1.17 million TRUMP tokens, valued at about $15 million. The 220th-ranked user, “Moek,” holds 112 TRUMP tokens worth around $1,344.
When the project posted its update to X, the 220th-ranked user was an account labeled ‘HAR’ holding $420. Thus, the minimum ticket price more than tripled within a few hours.
Trump may not attend
Despite the marketing hype, the team disclaimed that Trump’s attendance at the gala dinner is not guaranteed.
According to the event terms:
“President Trump may not be able to attend the $TRUMP Gala Dinner, and the $TRUMP Gala Dinner may be cancelled for any reason (including, but not limited to, a force majeure event).”
The team furthered that if Trump cannot attend or the dinner does not proceed as intended, eligible participants will receive a limited edition TRUMP NFT as compensation.
