Serenity: Nvidia Expects ~70% Revenue Growth in FY2028, AI Demand Shows No Clear Signs of Slowing

Odaily News: "White-haired stock god" Serenity stated that the latest earnings report and conference call from Nvidia released AI demand signals that are clearly stronger than market expectations. Nvidia's second-quarter revenue was $96.22 billion, higher than the market's expectation of approximately $92.17 billion, with data center revenue reaching $89 billion; the company expects next quarter's revenue to be approximately $108 billion.

Serenity specifically pointed out that Nvidia expects revenue to grow by about 70% in fiscal year 2028, significantly higher than the previous market expectation of approximately 43.9% growth, and the company stated that this outlook remains "supply-constrained." Meanwhile, Nvidia's committed orders have increased from $119 billion in the previous quarter to $279 billion, mainly involving memory purchases over the next several years.

Additionally, Nvidia expects capital expenditures from the top five hyperscale cloud service providers to increase from nearly $800 billion in 2026 to $1.3 trillion in 2027. Serenity believes that AI demand currently shows no clear signs of slowing down, and compared to Nvidia itself, the growth opportunities brought by its architecture and capacity expansion to supply chain segments such as memory, CPO, and 800V are more noteworthy.

SoftBank is in talks to acquire a majority stake in 1X at a valuation of $6 billion

According to The Information, informed sources revealed that SoftBank is negotiating to acquire a majority stake in the startup 1X Technologies, which is a humanoid robot development company supported by OpenAI. This deal would value the company at approximately $6 billion. This investment will support SoftBank's ambitions in the robotics field while also providing 1X with more funding to bring its robots, designed with flexible bodies, into consumers' homes to help users with household chores. The startup, founded 12 years ago, attempted to raise $1 billion last fall at a valuation of $10 billion but reportedly ended up raising less than half of its target.SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son has long been an investor and owner of robotics developers. He predicts that physical devices combining robotics technology and artificial intelligence will give rise to the next trillion-dollar company. Another sign is that OpenAI reportedly discussed the possibility of acquiring 1X last year, but negotiations ultimately broke down.

Blockstream releases SHRINCS quantum-safe signature scheme BIP

Blockstream has released a Bitcoin Improvement Proposal (BIP) proposing the SHRINCS post-quantum signature scheme. SHRINCS is a hash-based post-quantum signature scheme with a minimum size of 548 bytes, approximately 9 times larger than the existing Schnorr signatures, but much smaller than the NIST-approved ML-DSA and SPHINCS+ schemes. The scheme has completed production environment testing on the Liquid sidechain and includes a copy of the Bitcoin white paper. The scheme also has limitations. The BIP warns that security proofs are still pending, and the scheme is stateful, requiring the storage of used keys for each signature, which increases the signature size by 16 bytes with each use. In the event of device loss, approximately 5777 bytes are needed for a stateless fallback transaction recovery. Blockstream estimates that Bitcoin can maintain a speed of about 3 TPS after adopting SHRINCS, which can be increased to 6.7 TPS when combined with ZK proof aggregation.

Google TPU imports Intel EMIB, MediaTek deepens cooperation

According to DIGITIMES, the Taiwanese semiconductor supply chain reveals that advanced packaging technology is diversifying, with Intel's EMIB becoming a key option. Google TPU has confirmed the adoption of EMIB packaging, and the first TPU using this technology has met yield standards, with technology, cost, and capacity performance all aligning with Google's original criteria. The likelihood of continuing to use EMIB in future generations of TPU has significantly increased.Against the backdrop of ongoing tight capacity at TSMC's CoWoS, as long as EMIB yield and technology remain up to standard, Google will continue to adopt it. MediaTek, as a relevant ASIC partner, has some managers in its U.S. team with Intel backgrounds, facilitating smoother collaboration between the two parties. Although MediaTek still relies heavily on TSMC, its success with Intel on TPU helps solidify Google's trust, secure more projects, and provide diverse packaging solutions to cloud customers.Previously, TSMC called for more suppliers to invest in advanced packaging to share the pressure during its earnings call. The supply chain generally believes that its own capacity expansion will not be limitless, making the diversification of packaging paths, such as those from Intel, a necessary direction, and related testing equipment and interface companies are also expected to benefit.

In Q2 2026, the global semiconductor market reached 368 billion USD, a year-on-year increase of 104%

According to SemiWiki, WSTS data shows that the global semiconductor market sales reached $368 billion in the second quarter of 2026, a quarter-on-quarter increase of 35% and a year-on-year increase of 104%, setting a new historical high. The growth is mainly driven by AI demand, with significant quarter-on-quarter increases from memory manufacturers, SK Hynix and Sandisk at 51%, Kioxia at 76%; Nvidia's AI processor business grew 18% quarter-on-quarter, and Broadcom is expected to grow 33% quarter-on-quarter.Kioxia and Sandisk rose to eighth and ninth place globally, respectively, with both companies' revenues growing more than four times year-on-year. Excluding major AI suppliers, the other top 20 semiconductor manufacturers only saw a quarter-on-quarter increase of 9%, with guidance indicating a total quarter-on-quarter growth of about 6% for the third quarter of 2026. The growth expectations for memory manufacturers in the third quarter have clearly slowed down.Based on the latest forecasts, the semiconductor market growth rate for the entire year of 2026 is expected to reach or exceed 90%, with Semiconductor Intelligence predicting a growth of 101% and RCD Advisors predicting 112%; in the storage sector, WSTS expects a growth of 249%, while Gartner predicts 280%. Most institutions expect the growth rate to fall back to the mid-20% range in 2027.

Jensen Huang defends Nvidia's AI ecosystem financing, stating that the risks are relatively low

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang defended the company's increasingly expanding role in financing the AI ecosystem on CNBC's "Mad Money," calling the investment in cutting-edge labs a "once-in-a-generation" opportunity and stating that the risks are relatively low. He pointed out that the outside world overlooks a key point: these are the first batch of startups that require hundreds of billions of dollars in funding, with a very high capital intensity for building and deploying AI. NVIDIA has invested in model companies like OpenAI and Anthropic, as well as new cloud service providers, and has provided financial support for data center projects, including $105 billion in support for a large computing power park in Ohio (with OpenAI as a tenant), and has collaborated with Wall Street institutions to arrange up to $500 billion in data center financing. In response to criticisms of "circular financing" and comparisons to similar internet bubbles, Huang stated that NVIDIA hopes to become an equity investor in cutting-edge AI labs and provide broader support, as these companies do not yet have investment-grade qualifications and low-cost financing records. He emphasized that the invested capital will yield substantial returns and that the risks are low because the computing infrastructure can be redeployed to other clients and workloads when the supported companies encounter difficulties. NVIDIA just announced better-than-expected results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2027: revenue of $96.2 billion, more than doubling year-on-year; data center revenue increased by 117% to $89 billion, and it is expected that revenue will grow by about 70% in fiscal year 2028. Following the announcement, the stock price rose about 4% in after-hours trading.

Iran's Foreign Ministry: US Policy Toward Iran Is a 'Farce'

Meanwhile, the US announced a "halt" to sports and academic exchanges with Iran, which had already largely stalled. Baghaei criticized that the US is imposing additional sanctions on already-sanctioned targets and packaging a "hollow shell" as a "coalition."
