On Sept. 9, the standalone site world.xyz of the Solana prediction market platform World officially launched, opening to over 1 million waitlist users. Markets cover all NFL regular season games, seven major football leagues, F1, the 2026 midterm elections, and the Federal Reserve's next interest rate decision.

Since July, World had been operating as an embedded feature within the Phantom wallet, launching over 150,000 markets cumulatively. However, on the day the standalone site went live, traffic far exceeded expectations, causing the website to overload and go offline temporarily.

According to a post by World officials in the early hours of Sept. 10, the day's traffic was enough to "literally overload the site." The team preemptively shut down the website for repairs, emphasizing that all funds are safe and that reward activities will resume after the fix. As of the time of the post, the website had not yet been restored.

The direct driver of this traffic surge was the first-trade reward campaign launched simultaneously by the officials.

According to community feedback, the campaign flow involves creating an account, linking an X account, completing a prediction trade, and then claiming rewards settled in Phantom's USD stablecoin CASH. Officials did not publish a fixed reward schedule; rewards vary by user, time period, and eligibility. Some users reported receiving $378, and the community says the maximum can reach around $500.

Crypto blogger Chen Xiaomeng posted that rewards are related to X account follower count, with 10,000 followers corresponding to about $80. This claim has not been officially confirmed, but the community generally views it as a potential logic behind the campaign design. Technical issues also occurred during the campaign, with users reporting that USDC deposits did not arrive, deposit addresses changed after refresh, or rewards were not received after completing trades. Some countries were restricted from participating, and not all global users could claim rewards.

In fact, World entered the public eye earlier. Foresight News published a report on June 30 titled "World, which hasn't formally introduced itself, appears in Phantom's prediction market disclosures," when World had not yet launched specific features but had already appeared in Phantom's prediction market disclosure information.

World's settlement system is entirely built around the stablecoin CASH. CASH is a USD stablecoin designed by Phantom for everyday use, pegged 1:1 to the US dollar, and issued by Bridge and Stripe's Open Issuance platform. World's prediction contracts are presented in a binary "yes/no" format, with both opening and settlement completed in CASH. Users can convert USDC or SOL to CASH on the front end to participate in trading, and profits, rewards, and closing positions are all received in CASH. This design means that every trade on World creates a use case for Phantom's stablecoin, rather than relying on external settlement assets like USDC.

Phantom's support for World is not limited to wallet connectivity. According to Phantom's disclosure page, starting June 1, 2026, new prediction positions opened within Phantom will be provided by World Prediction Markets, whereas previously the entry point used Kalshi and DFlow. World's embedding into Phantom means it directly inherits the existing traffic of Solana's largest consumer wallet, which is key to its ability to accumulate over 50,000 unique predictors in a short period.

After the standalone site launch, two paths run in parallel: Phantom provides the front end, wallet, CASH account, and user distribution, while World provides the market protocol, order routing, and settlement logic. Chainlink provides high-speed market data and automated settlement through Data Streams and CRE, replacing traditional manual review or token holder voting mechanisms.

From a data perspective, World still has a significant gap compared to mainstream platforms. According to Dune data, World's current total prediction trading volume is about $31 million, with about 53,600 unique predictors; while according to Dune data, Polymarket's single-week total trading volume on Aug. 17 was about $2.34 billion, and its active addresses in July were about 573,000.

World's choice to use first-trade rewards rather than points or airdrops for user acquisition is a pragmatic decision in this competitive landscape. The design of linking X accounts helps identify real users and filter out bots, while leveraging social spread to expand reach. If the community speculation that reward amounts are tied to follower counts is true, it means World prefers to attract users with some influence rather than simply pursuing address counts. According to official information, World currently has no points program and has not announced any token issuance plans.

From the perspective of the Solana ecosystem, World's user acquisition campaign serves two goals simultaneously: attracting new users to the Phantom wallet and expanding the circulation scale of the CASH stablecoin. According to CoinMarketCap data, CASH's current market cap is about $125 million, a stark contrast to USDT's $188.38 billion and USDC's $74.31 billion. Every trade and every reward distribution on World increases the actual demand for CASH, and Phantom, as Solana's largest consumer wallet, provides a potential distribution network for CASH through its user base.

Whether World can retain users after the trading reward campaign ends and convert first-time traders into long-term users remains to be observed.
