What is financial information (FLI)?

FLI is disclosure about possible events, conditions or financial performance that is based on assumptions about future economic conditions and courses of action. FLI includes two subcategories dealing with financial information: (a) FOFI and (b) financial outlook.

What is FLI & why is it important?

FLI is a key area of interest for investors. Investors want transparent and clear disclosure about present and future corporate operations and performance. When prepared properly, FLI can be used to enhance transparency and provide opportunities to increase the investor’s understanding of a reporting issuer’s business and future prospects.

Who founded FLI?

FLI was founded in March 2014 by MIT cosmologist Max Tegmark, Skype co-founder Jaan Tallinn, DeepMind research scientist Viktoriya Krakovna, Tufts University postdoctoral scholar Meia Chita-Tegmark, and UCSC physicist Anthony Aguirre.

What is a FLI disclosure?

Staff of the Ontario Securities Commission (“we”) recognize that FLI is a challenging area. Reporting issuers need to address investors’ demands by providing reliable and relevant information. Disclosure must be both useful and understandable. Disclosure should include the most relevant information in a format that investors can understand.
