Bitcoin dominance stood at 59.8%, while the Fear & Greed Index climbed to 78, signaling a return to elevated “Greed” territory.

3. Crypto-Linked Stocks Surge, Robinhood Jumps 16% and Strategy Gains 14%

Bitcoin’s move back above $80,000 sparked a broad rally in US-listed crypto-related stocks. Robinhood surged around 16%, Circle gained about 16%, Strategy climbed roughly 14%, BitMine rose around 12%, Coinbase advanced about 10%, and MARA gained approximately 9%.

4. US Stocks Rally Sharply as Dow Jumps 624 Points

On September 3, the Dow rose 624.16 points to 53,686.11, a gain of 1.18%. The S&P 500 climbed 1.06% to 7,747.71, while the Nasdaq advanced 1.40% to 26,584.06. Easing rate expectations lifted large-cap technology and growth stocks, helping all three major indexes reverse their recent weakness.

5. Waller Strikes Softer Tone, Says Rates Can Stay Unchanged if Inflation Eases

Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller said he would favor keeping interest rates unchanged if upcoming data show inflation pressures are easing. If inflation remains too high, however, he would not rule out further rate hikes. Markets quickly reduced bets on September tightening following his remarks.

6. Probability of September Fed Hike Falls from 63% to Around 50%

CME FedWatch pricing showed the probability of a 25-basis-point Fed rate hike in September falling to around 50.4%, from approximately 63.2% a day earlier. Foreign-exchange markets later briefly priced the probability as low as around 48%, showing that Waller’s comments materially shifted near-term policy expectations.

7. US July Trade Deficit Surges 24.4% to $88.6 Billion

The US trade deficit widened 24.4% in July to $88.6 billion. Imports rose 2.8% to $399.3 billion, with capital-goods imports increasing by $14.4 billion to a record high. Exports fell 2.1% to $310.7 billion, suggesting trade could continue to weigh on third-quarter economic growth.

8. US Payrolls Due Today, with Markets Expecting About 56,000 New Jobs

Attention has shifted to the US August employment report due today. A Reuters poll showed economists expect nonfarm payrolls to rise by around 56,000, with the unemployment rate holding at 4.1%. Ahead of the September policy meeting, the report will be a key input for reassessing the probability of another rate hike.

9. US Says Talks Will Not Resume Until Iran Stops Attacking Commercial Shipping

US Vice President JD Vance said Washington would not resume negotiations with Tehran as long as Iran continues attacking commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. The latest military clashes have caused casualties, including Iranian pilots, further reducing energy-market expectations for a near-term ceasefire.

10. Gold Surges 2.3% Back to $4,488 as Lower Rate Expectations Drive Rebound

Spot gold jumped 2.3% to $4,488.54 per ounce, while US December gold futures settled 2.8% higher at $4,539.90. Cooling expectations for further Fed rate hikes pushed the dollar and Treasury yields lower, allowing gold to quickly recover part of the losses caused by the recent higher-rate trade.

11. Nvidia to Acquire Hugging Face for $12.93 Billion

Nvidia agreed to acquire open-source AI platform Hugging Face for approximately $12.93 billion. Around $11.9 billion will be paid in cash to investors, with up to $1 billion in equity set aside for employee retention. The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2027, while the Hugging Face platform will remain open.

12. Strive Says It Could Become World’s Second-Largest Public Bitcoin Holder by Year-End

Strive CEO Matt Cole said the company could become the world’s second-largest publicly listed corporate Bitcoin holder by the end of 2026. Strive still has more than $700 million in potential warrant proceeds that could be used to further expand its BTC reserves if conditions are met.

13. Fed to Hold Payments Innovation Conference Focused on Stablecoins and Tokenization

The Federal Reserve announced that it will hold a payments innovation conference on October 21 covering the convergence of traditional finance and DeFi, stablecoins, AI-powered payments and the tokenization of financial assets. The event reflects growing interest among US monetary regulators in how blockchain technology could reshape the payments system.
