Aurora Cannabis (ACB) Shuts Down Rumors: No $215M Deal or Partnership in Sight
Aurora Cannabis just dropped a truth bomb—and it's not what Wall Street wanted to hear.
The cannabis giant flatly denied swirling rumors of a $215 million acquisition and strategic partnership. No sugar-coating, no 'we don't comment on market speculation'—just a hard stop.
Why the buzzkill? Because in today's market, even baseless rumors can move stocks faster than fundamentals. Aurora's playing defense while traders scramble to cover their positions—classic 'buy the rumor, sell the news' theater.
One thing's clear: When Aurora speaks, the market listens. But maybe next time, it should listen before the rumor mill starts grinding.
Bonus jab: Another day, another 'game-changing' cannabis deal that wasn't. At least the short-sellers got their volatility fix.

However, Aurora’s Vice President of Communications, Michelle Lefler, quickly denied the claims, stating in an email to Yahoo Finance Canada that “neither of these stories are true in any way” and that the company is treating the matter very seriously. She confirmed that Aurora is already taking the necessary steps to address the situation.
Despite Aurora posting strong quarterly results earlier that same day, shares dropped by more than 20% on the Toronto Stock Exchange, which was likely due to the confusion and misinformation. The company has clarified that no such acquisition or partnership has occurred and emphasized that any statements to the contrary are entirely fabricated. Aurora is now working to correct the record and contain the damage from the misleading reports.
