Sensex, Nifty sustain upward trend; proposed GST reforms lift auto and consumer durable stocks

Indian markets charge ahead—fueled by bullish sentiment and tax overhaul hopes. Here’s why traders are betting big.

GST Tailwinds Hit Overdrive

Proposed reforms send auto and consumer durable stocks into the stratosphere. No surprise—liquidity loves a policy sugar rush.

Bulls Don’t Look Back

Sensex and Nifty extend gains like a crypto bull run without the volatility. (Take notes, Bitcoin maximalists.)

Bottom Line: When regulators play nice, markets party. Just don’t ask who’s cleaning up when the hangover hits.

Top gainers & losers intraday

Among the Sensex pack, Maruti, Nestle India, Hero Motocorp, Bajaj Finance and M&M led the gainers with 5-8 per cent increase, while L&T, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Infosys, Tech Mahindra and HCL Tech declined about 1 per cent emerging as major laggards.

In addition, cement , AC (Havells and Voltas) and electronics also sprang ahead in anticipation of GST relief.

Out of 2,979 stocks traded, a large majority of 1,948 stocks advanced, while 960 stocks declined and 71 remained unchanged. A total of 74 stocks such as Eternal, Ashok Leyland and Apollo Hospitals, touched their 52-week high, whereas 53 stocks hit their 52-week low. Market enthusiasm was also evident with 104 stocks including Zen Tech, Indotech and SPIC locked in their upper circuit, compared to 68 stocks (including Prostarm Info Systems) in their lower circuit.Ā

Midcap & smallcap movers

Under the midcap segment, Ashok Leyland, Voltas, Escorts, Apollo Tyres and Vodafone Idea soared 5-8 per cent. Suzlon, Glenmark, Hindustan Petroleum, Kalyan Jewellers and Torrent Power depreciated 2-5 per cent.

KEC International, Amber Enterprises, Bata India, PCBL and Aster DM climbed 4-8 per cent among smallcap segment, while Godfrey Phillips, Sonata Software, KFIN Tech, Swan Energy and PVR Inox fell 2-6 per cent.

On the BSE, AVL, Fusion, PGEL, KEC and Relaxo Footwears surged 10-14 per cent. Godfrey Phillips, Ethos, Suzlon, KSCL and Aurionpro fell by 4-6 per cent.
