Sensex & Nifty 50 Ride Inflation Anxiety—Auto Stocks Fuel the Frenzy

Top gainers & losers intraday
Maruti Suzuki, Tech Mahindra, M&M, Hero Motocorp and Tata Steel led the gainers on the Nifty 50, while Bajaj Finance, Eternal, Hindustan Unilever, Grasim Inudstries and HDFC Bank declined the most.
Of the 2,913 stocks that were traded on the National Stock Exchange at the time of writing, nearly 1,693 stocks advanced and 1,122 declined. Star Cement, Anand Rathi, Fortis and Choice International were among 23 stocks that hit a 52-week high, and 45 stocks, including Bigbloc Construction, Praj Industries, Protean eGov, and Wonderla Holidays hit a 52-week low.
75 shares, including Indo Tech and NDL Ventures, traded at the upper circuit, and 32 hit the lower circuit.
Midcap & smallcap movers
SJVN, Biocon, Alkem, ATGL and Petronet soared 2-5 per cent under the mid-cap segment, while Astral, Kalyan Jewellers, Solar Industries, Policy Bazaar and MRF declined 2-7 per cent.
In the smallcap basket, HSCL, PCBL, Titagarh, HBL Engineering and MCX soared 3-5 per cent, while ACE, PEL, Godfrey Phillips, Atul and Afcons declined 2-6 per cent.
On the BSE, Sonata, Star Cement, Media Assist, Sammaan Capital and Tilaknagar Industries rallied 7-10 per cent. Astral and Praj Industries traded as major laggards, reacting to Q1 show.
In addition, shares of Man Industries, BEML, Bata India, SJVN were also in focus post Q1 results. HAL, ONGC, Suzlon Energy, Oil India, MRF, Natco Pharma, Cochin Shipyard and more to announce results today. Catch live updates here
