The Midcap index fell by 0.34 per cent, while the Smallcap index remained largely flat.
On the sectoral front, performance was mixed — pharma, oil & gas, and FMCG sectors witnessed sharp declines, whereas auto, PSU bank, and media sectors showed resilience.
Top gainers & losers intraday
Among the Sensex firms, IndusInd, Trent, Maruti Suzuki, Titan and Bharti Airtel led the gainers, while Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Asian Paints, Cipla, ICICI Bank and BEL depreciated the most.

As of 12.47 pm, the overall market sentiment appeared negative, with declines outpacing advances. Out of 2,884 stocks traded, 1,602 stocks declined while only 1,189 advanced, and 93 remained unchanged.
A total of 47 stocks touched their 52-week high including Bosch, Cartrade Tech, Datamatics, Godfrey Phillips and ABDL, while 45 stocks such as Kalpataru, Protean eGovh and Ease My Trip it their 52-week low.
Additionally, Godfrey Phillips, Senco Gold and Cosmo First featured among 61 stocks that hit the upper circuit, whereas 36 were in the lower circuit.

Midcap & smallcap movers
Under the midcap segment, Vishal Mega Mart, APL Apollo, Mazagon Dock, Max Health and BHEL soared 2-3 per cent, while BSE, Biocon, Torrent Power, LIC Housing and Glenmark declined 2-3 per cent.
Of the smallcap segment, Chambal Fertilizers, Radico, Firstsource Solutions, Firstcry and Nuvama gained 3-7 per cent, while Triveni Turbine, Reliance Power, Welspun Living, MGL and PEL dragged 3-7 per cent.
In addition, shares of Ather Energy, KPI Green Energy, Adani Ports, Bharti Airtel, Sanofi Consumer, Marico and more are in focus due to quarter results. Catch live updates
On the BSE, Prakash Industries and Newgen shares rallied 12 per cent, while Gokaldas Exports, Thomas Cook, KP Energy dragged 5-9 per cent.
