Ripple pledges $25m in stablecoin to support U.S. teachers and classrooms

Ripple’s latest PR move throws $25 million in digital Monopoly money at America’s crumbling education system—because stablecoins teach kids to code, right?

The ’philanthropic’ play: XRP’s parent company pledges USD Coin (USDC) to DonorsChoose, a crowdfunding platform for teachers. Because nothing says ’educational reform’ like volatile crypto firms playing sugar daddy.

Wall Street’s reaction: *Checks notes* Still waiting for that IPO. Meanwhile, Ripple’s CTO claims this proves blockchain’s ’real-world utility’—ignoring the 800-pound SEC lawsuit in the room.

Bottom line: Classrooms get bandaids. Ripple gets headlines. And your kid’s math textbook still costs more than a Bitcoin transaction fee.

Promote education through crypto

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse called the initiative part of a broader mission to promote educational and economic access through crypto. “We’re partnering with some of the most impactful organizations to benefit thousands of classrooms across the U.S.,” he said.

“The use case for crypto in payments has never been stronger, and stablecoins like RLUSD are proving their value in real-world applications like donations and large-scale transactions. Especially when combined with an efficient blockchain network such as the XRP Ledger. They offer fast, low-cost transfers, free from middlemen and banking restrictions, making them ideal for moving significant amounts efficiently and transparently, as Ripple’s donation demonstrates,” Panos Mekras, CEO of Anodos Labs, one of the leading DeFi projects on XRPL, told crypto.news ina statement.

This marks the first time both DonorsChoose and Teach For America will receive a majority of a grant in stablecoin.

The Giving Block, a crypto donation platform, will help facilitate the transactions. According to Chainalysis, stablecoins now account for over half of all on-chain transaction volume.

Ripple’s total philanthropic contributions now exceed $200 million since 2018, according to the company.
