Elon Musk’s SpaceX Transfers $133 Million in Bitcoin on Friday

SpaceX rockets another nine-figure Bitcoin transaction as market watches Elon Musk's every crypto move.

THE WHALE MOVEMENT

Friday's blockchain activity revealed SpaceX transferring exactly $133 million in Bitcoin—another strategic play from Elon Musk's aerospace empire. The timing couldn't be more provocative as institutional adoption continues reshaping crypto's landscape.

CORPORATE TREASURY STRATEGY

While traditional finance executives debate balance sheet allocations, Musk's companies keep executing. This latest transfer follows Tesla's earlier Bitcoin treasury moves, proving corporate crypto strategies aren't just theoretical anymore.

MARKET IMPLICATIONS

When Musk moves, markets notice. The $133 million transaction demonstrates serious conviction in digital assets—exactly the kind of real-world validation that makes Wall Street's cautious crypto-babble sound increasingly outdated.

Because nothing says 'future of money' like moving nine figures without asking a banker's permission first.

TLDR

  • SpaceX transferred $133.7 million in bitcoin on Friday, marking the second major transfer in less than a week after moving $268.5 million on Tuesday
  • The company currently holds approximately 6,970 bitcoin worth around $770 million, with bitcoin trading at $110,493.92
  • Analysts suggest SpaceX is consolidating its bitcoin holdings and moving cryptocurrency from older legacy wallet addresses to new modern ones
  • SpaceX reduced its bitcoin holdings by roughly 70% in mid-2022, possibly due to the Terra-Luna collapse and FTX failure, and has not purchased more since
  • Tesla, also owned by Elon Musk, holds 11,509 BTC worth $1.24 billion after selling most of its holdings in 2022

Elon Musk’s aerospace company SpaceX moved $133.7 million worth of Bitcoin to new wallet addresses on Friday. The transfer marks the second major bitcoin movement in less than a week.

On Tuesday, SpaceX transferred approximately $268.5 million in bitcoin. The Friday transfer follows that earlier movement by just three days.

According to blockchain analytics firm Arkham Intelligence, SpaceX currently holds about 6,970 bitcoin. The total value of these holdings is approximately $770 million.

Bitcoin was trading at $110,493.92 on Friday afternoon. The price represents the value at 1:31 p.m. ET.

The recent transfers represent the first major bitcoin movements by SpaceX since July. The company had kept its bitcoin wallets inactive for several months before this week.

Wallet Consolidation Strategy

Blockchain analysts tracking the transfers suggest SpaceX is consolidating its bitcoin holdings. The company appears to be moving cryptocurrency from older wallet addresses to newer ones.

Some of the transferred funds temporarily appeared in Coinbase Prime wallets. This suggests SpaceX may be using custody services for its bitcoin holdings.

The transfers appear to be internal movements rather than sales. No evidence indicates SpaceX sold any bitcoin during these transactions.

Arkham data shows SpaceX liquidated 300 Bitcoin valued at $33 million and 915 BTC valued at $100.7 million. These movements are part of the wallet reorganization process.

Historical Bitcoin Holdings

SpaceX reduced its bitcoin holdings by around 70% in mid-2022. The reduction likely occurred due to market conditions following the Terra-Luna collapse and FTX failure.

The company has not purchased additional bitcoin since that 2022 reduction. SpaceX has maintained its current holdings without adding to the position.

Tesla, another company owned by Elon Musk, also sold most of its bitcoin in 2022. Tesla currently holds 11,509 BTC worth $1.24 billion.

Both companies made their bitcoin sales during the same period. The timing coincided with widespread cryptocurrency market volatility.

The recent wallet activity by SpaceX does not indicate a change in the company’s bitcoin acquisition strategy. The movements focus on organizing existing holdings rather than expanding them.

Arkham Intelligence continues to track SpaceX’s bitcoin wallet addresses. The firm provides data on the company’s cryptocurrency holdings and movements.
