Move over, petrodollars—Qatar just wired the equivalent of three El Salvador GDPs into US coffers. Trump’s ‘art of the deal’ playbook? More like ‘art of the blank check.’

Behind the scenes: Doha’s sovereign wealth fund pivots from European luxury assets to… whatever this is. Wall Street analysts whisper ‘debt-for-favors’—but hey, liquidity’s liquidity, right?

The kicker? Zero blockchain involved. Somewhere in Dubai, a crypto VC just choked on their gold-leaf latte.

Trump Signs 2nd Major Deal This Week in New $1.2 Trillion Agreement With Qatar

Since the start of the year, the US dollar and stock market have certainly struggled. In late April, the greenback fell to a three-year low on the heels of the country’s America-First tariff plans. The move led to increased volatility and a potential trade war with China. However, things have taken a notable turn for the administration this week.

Not only has it secured a tariff pause from Beijing, but it has struck two major deals with Middle Eastern nations. Indeed, US President Trump has officially secured a $1.2 trillion economic deal with Qatar amid his first major foreign trip since his return to the WHITE House.

Additionally, the administration announced “economic deals totaling more than $243.5 billion between the United States and Qatar.” Specifically, those include a historic agreement to buy 160 Boeing planes in what is the largest order in history. That deal will reportedly support 154,000 US jobs per year, according to the White House.

The new agreement will also mark the administration’s “intent to accelerate Qatar’s defense investment in the US-Qatar security partnership,” the press release states. Conversely, in 2024, the US trade surplus with Qatar reached $2 billion. Moreover, the two sides have been positive trade partners for more than two decades, with the latest agreement looking to deepen relations and cooperation on a variety of fronts.
