The BRICS alliance just got a whole lot more crowded—two dozen countries formally applied to join the economic bloc this year, accelerating its push to reshape global trade. Goldbugs and crypto-anarchists are cheering; Wall Street is pretending not to notice.

Who’s knocking? Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and Nigeria lead the pack of applicants—all hungry for trade settlements in anything but USD. The move signals a growing revolt against dollar hegemony, though skeptics point out these nations still hold 60% of their reserves in... wait for it... greenbacks.

Behind the scenes: BRICS’ New Development Bank is quietly testing blockchain-based settlement systems. Because nothing says ’financial revolution’ like bureaucrats discovering distributed ledgers at the speed of government procurement.

The punchline? While BRICS talks de-dollarization, their newest members still peg currencies to the Fed. Some rebellion—just with extra paperwork.

The President also stressed that Congo attended the previous BRICS summit in Kazan and is eager to be a part of the alliance in 2025. However, the decision to induct the Republic of Congo and the other 23 countries will be consensus-based by the members. The 17th summit will be held on July 6-7 this year in Brazil’s capital city Rio De Janeiro. It is not known if Congo will get inducted into the bloc this year.
