India's crypto giant WazirX hits another regulatory speed bump—just don't ask about the missing millions.

The $234 million elephant in the courtroom

While lawyers argue procedural delays, traders are left wondering when—or if—anyone will explain how a platform this prominent got drained like a DeFi yield farm after a hack. The postponed hearing kicks the can down Mumbai's monsoon-soaked streets until mid-July.

Silence speaks louder than 10,000 Bitcoin maximalists

No breach details. No recovery timeline. Just the soothing hum of crickets where a $234 million security post-mortem should be. Pro tip for exchanges: when your 'transparency' makes Swiss banks look chatty, maybe rethink the comms strategy.

Bonus jab: At least the hearing delay gives investors more time to practice their 'this is fine' memes while sitting on unrealized losses.

WazirX

  • WazirX hearing rescheduled to July 15, with July 16 as a reserve date, following court approval to present new restructuring arguments.
  • Singapore court mandates WazirX to submit supplemental documents by July 4, showing intent to review fresh evidence before ruling.
  • Users remain frustrated as WazirX and co-founder Nischal Shetty maintain silence amid ongoing fallout from the $234M hack.

WazirX is back under the legal spotlight as the Singapore High Court has officially rescheduled the hearing for case HC/SUM 940/2025. The new date, now set for July 15, 2025, at 7:30 AM IST, replaces the earlier schedule of July 10–11. A reserve date of July 16 has also been marked in case of contingencies.

This MOVE follows the court’s approval for the exchange to present further arguments related to its ongoing restructuring efforts. The change was confirmed through WazirX’s official post on X (formerly Twitter), signaling a minor yet critical development for thousands of users who have been left in the dark since the platform was rocked by a $234 million hack.

📢 Update on Proposed Scheme of Arrangement

The Singapore Court has scheduled the hearing for further arguments in HC/SUM 940/2025 on 15 July 2025 at 7:30 AM IST (10:00 AM SGT) with a reserve date set for 16 July 2025, if needed (instead of 10 July 2025, with 11 July 2025 as… pic.twitter.com/Vp2XWTiCJK

The court’s decision also mandates WazirX to submit a supplemental affidavit and written submissions by July 4, 2025, suggesting the judiciary’s intent to carefully review any new evidence or proposals before proceeding.

WazirX, however, has remained cautious in its communications. In its latest public statement, the company shared: “We are currently awaiting details regarding attendance at the hearing from the Court, and will share more information when the Court provides us with the details.”

WazirX Co-Founder Silent as Court Date Nears

While the legal process appears to be progressing, user frustration continues to mount. Despite the magnitude of the security breach, the exchange has yet to publicly acknowledge the hack, nor has it provided any roadmap or reassurance regarding the potential refund of stolen funds. The silence from top executives, particularly co-founder Nischal Shetty, has only intensified concerns, as users continue to press for answers across social media platforms.

Adding to the complexity, earlier this year, 93% of voting creditors approved WazirX’s restructuring plan, a critical step that provided some hope for recovery. However, the lack of transparency and communication since that vote has led to skepticism about the company’s true intentions and capabilities to compensate users.

As the rescheduled hearing date approaches, the July 15 session may prove to be a decisive moment for the troubled crypto exchange. The court’s rulings could shape the operational fate of the exchange and set the tone for how user losses are addressed, if at all. For now, affected users and industry watchers are left waiting, hoping that the judiciary brings clarity where the platform has failed to do so.

Until the exchange breaks its silence or the court delivers a decisive outcome, the uncertainty remains. And with millions of dollars still unaccounted for, trust in the platform hangs by a thread.
