In a sweeping crackdown, U.S. law enforcement dismantles a major darknet operation—confiscating BidenCash's crypto assets and pulling the plug on 145 domains.

The takedown highlights the feds' tightening grip on crypto-fueled illicit markets—just as Wall Street pretends blockchain is only about 'efficiency' and 'innovation.'

Another win for regulators, another headache for privacy maximalists. The cat-and-mouse game continues.

BidenCash

  • BidenCash facilitated over 15 million stolen card transactions
  • U.S. seized crypto funds and blocked 145 domains linked to fraud
  • Marketplace leaked 3.3M card records to promote criminal services

Federal officials in the United States have shut down a major darknet marketplace and seized its crypto funds and domains. BidenCash market enabled users to  illegally buy and sell stolen financial data and personal information. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia revealed the coordinated enforcement action on Wednesday.

Authorities seized 145 domains linked to darknet and public websites and are now handled by U.S. law enforcement. The government obtained legal clearance to take crypto funds that were used for illegal purposes. Although the amount of money the marketplace made was not shared, sources say it was more than $17 million.

BidenCash Darknet  Marketplace

BidenCash was launched in March 2022 and attracted criminals who wanted stolen credit cards and login details. It had over 117,000 customers and enabled more than 15 million card transactions. Authorities noted that the platform charged users transaction fees to profit from every illegal sale.

In a bid to grow its user base, the marketplace released stolen credit card datasets for free between late 2022 and early 2023. The company leaked 3.3 million cards, including the CVV, expiration date and all the account holder’s details. The plan was to build trust among cybercriminals after disruptions such as DDoS attacks.

The Secret Service and FBI from the U.S. teamed up with Dutch police and cybersecurity groups in the investigation. The agencies stated that BidenCash sold unauthorized access to compromised servers. As a result of the shutdown, the domains now direct users to secure law enforcement pages to block access to the platform.

Crypto Payments in BidenCash Market

BidenCash mainly used cryptocurrency to hide its activities and stay anonymous. However, investigators followed the money and get a court order to take it through legal steps. The platform’s two-year journey ends and all its infrastructure has been dismantled.

SOCRadar, a cybersecurity company, found that BidenCash became popular due to its marketing efforts and fast data releases.  Experts said such tactics made it one of the most active marketplaces in the dark web scene. These actions increased the risks to financial institutions and data security systems all over the world.

Continued Crackdown on Crypto Crime

The Department of Justice confirmed that all the digital infrastructure linked to BidenCash is now shut down. The seized data is now examined by law enforcement for evidence and more leads to criminal cases. The authorities did not reveal any arrests.

Last month, Operation RapTor resulted in 270 arrests in different countries and the seizure of $200 million. Officials continue to take down criminal groups that exploit crypto systems.
