Move over gold, stocks, and real estate—Bitcoin just schooled traditional finance in ROI. The Central Bank of Russia’s latest report shows BTC delivering triple-digit gains while legacy assets crawl.

Why it stings: The same institution that tried banning crypto now admits it’s the best-performing investment vehicle. Even ruble-denominated bonds got lapped by decentralized tech.

The kicker? Analysts note Bitcoin’s 2025 surge came despite Wall Street’s ’safe’ ETF products—turns out holding your own keys beats middlemen taking their cut. Always did.

The report points out that bitcoin cumulative return increased 121.3% since 2022 much higher than gains for other assets. Despite this strong performance, the central bank noted that Bitcoin’s price can change quickly, with an 18.6% drop in the first four months of 2025. Bitcoin Outperforms Traditional Assets Amid Market Volatility

Bitcoin hit new records in 2025, climbing much higher than most other investments. While the value of digital currencies increased, broad market indices experienced losses, Gold and corporate bonds recorded minor gains. The Central Bank of Russia found that Bitcoin did better than dollar-denominated savings in banks or stocks in the S&P 500 in the first few months of 2025.

This trend reflects a broader shift in investment preferences as global markets face economic uncertainty. Despite fluctuating prices, Bitcoin’s ability to generate good profits has garnered more interest from prominent investors and governments worldwide. The approval of spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in places like the United States and Hong Kong has made buying Bitcoin using regulated methods easier, which has helped increase its use.

Global Adoption and Regulatory Milestones Drive Bitcoin’s Growth

Bitcoin’s rise from being seen as a risky investment to a more trusted one is apparent when its price surged below $20,000 in 2022 to nearly $110,000 in 2025. This growth happens at a time when more institutions are starting to use stablecoins and regulators are making necessary steps to create rules for them.

The pro-crypto measures taken under the current U.S. government, including talks about using Bitcoin as a reserve asset, have encouraged mainstream acceptance.

Several countries and companies use digital assets, like cryptocurrencies, in their financial planning. Nations like Kyrgyzstan and Ukraine and firms like Cantor Fitzgerald, are exploring Bitcoin to help protect their economies from financial risks and increase access to financial services for more people. The Central Bank of Russia’s endorsement of Bitcoin’s profitability shows the expanding role in global finance.
