Solana Breaks $150—But Can the Rally Hold?

Solana’s price surges past $150, defying skeptics who wrote it off after last year’s network hiccups. Traders pile in as bullish momentum builds—but liquidity patterns suggest this might be another ’buy the rumor, sell the news’ play by hedge funds.

Key levels to watch: A clean hold above $152 could signal a run toward $180. If support cracks at $145? Grab the popcorn.

Fun fact: This rally coincides with yet another ’institutional adoption’ press release. How convenient.

Solana

  • Solana stabilizes above $150 with strong technical indicators.
  • Institutional activity surges with a $500M investment from SOL Strategies.
  • April’s outlook is optimistic with a potential ROI of 4.9%.

Solana is currently  trading at $151.33, down a slight 0.65% on a 24-hour basis, with 24-hour trade volumes down to $3.82 billion, down by almost 29%. The slight pullback notwithstanding, overall weekly performance is still positive, with an 11.46% increase.

This price resilience occurs as SOL is still consolidating above the psychologically relevant $150 level, retaining its positive momentum.

The technical backdrop underlies this strength. A reading such as an ADX reading of 86.9 signifies a strong trend, despite RSI levels at 73.83 serving as a warning for overbought.

The MACD is still in positive crossover levels (4.27 against 0.95), suggesting ongoing momentum, but initial signs of divergence should temper optimism. Price action at the upper Bollinger Band with 18.10% width suggests potential volatility widening, thus marking an important juncture for investors and traders.

Solana strategies launches $500M Solana investment

One key driver propelling Solana’s positive sentiment is news from Canadian investment company SOL Strategies regarding a $500 million convertible note facility in collaboration with New York-based ATW Partners. The facility is intended to raise significantly the company’s stake in SOL to position it as a pioneering institutional staking platform within Solana’s ecosystem.

The first $20 million tranche has already been disbursed, with the additional $480 million depending on certain benchmark milestones. What is particularly interesting is that interest on the notes will be paid in SOL tokens, aligned with as much as 85% of staking returns, highlighting increased faith in the long-term sustainability of Solana’s proof-of-stake paradigm. The news saw its stock price jump by 25.27%, closing at CAD$2.28 ($1.64).

Adding to this, Nasdaq-listed DeFi Development Corporation announced it has acquired more than 65,000 SOL tokens, taking its SOL holdings to 317,273 SOL, supporting a solid institutional shift toward Solana’s ecosystem.

SOL price in April 2025: $154.82 avg forecast

On a forward-looking basis, market commentators expect an April 2025 average SOL price of $154.82 with a range of $150.39 to $159.24. This is a likely short-term ROI of 4.9%, consistent with recent institutional and technical tailwinds for the asset.

Nonetheless, Changelly’s long-term projection for 2025 is conservative. The experts predict an average trading price of $164.09 for 2025 with a ceiling upside at $145.05, reflecting a possible ROI of -4.5%. Such conflicting signals imply that while future development is positive, prudence is still a necessity in the context of overall uncertainties in the market.
