David Sacks Shuts Down AI Job Fearmongering: ’Humans Still Run the Show’

Tech luminary David Sacks just dropped a truth bomb on the AI doomsayers—your job isn’t going anywhere. At least, not without a human pulling the strings.

Why the AI panic is overblown

Sacks argues that AI—no matter how advanced—still needs human oversight, creativity, and decision-making. It’s a tool, not a takeover. Think of it like crypto: the tech’s disruptive, but someone’s still gotta trade the tokens (and pay the gas fees).

The finance jab you didn’t ask for

Meanwhile, Wall Street’s already pricing in the ‘AI revolution’—just like they priced in the metaverse. Funny how those hype cycles always align with quarterly earnings calls.

Bottom line? AI won’t steal your job. But a human using AI better than you? That’s a real threat.

Microsoft Study: AI Excels in Writing and Advising, Affects Reporting

Sacks’ comments follow a recent Microsoft Research study that identified 40 jobs that AI is most likely to impact. It found that roles such as journalists, reporters, technical writers, and analysts would be among the most AI-impacted occupations. These are roles that are also commonly found in the crypto industry.

The study, based on 200,000 anonymous Microsoft Bing Copilot interactions, found that AI is primarily used for tasks such as gathering information, writing, advising, and teaching. Using an “AI applicability score,” the study also assessed how effectively AI can finish specific tasks.

Stalled Job Growth Ignites AI Debate: Expert Insights

The U.S. job market indicated disappointing growth in July. The Department of Labor has reported only 73,000 new jobs. This figure fell short of the 100,000 jobs predicted by Dow Jones. As per reports by CryptoJobsList.com, the job market is limited; and the reports have recorded only 38 new positions compared to 69 added by Remote3.co.

Considering these economic concerns, Balaji Srinivasan, the former Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Coinbase, also stated that the fear of widespread job losses due to AI is unfounded. In his recent post on X, Srinivasan stated that AI will create many new jobs where people check and confirm how it works.

These jobs include making sure humans are involved, checking that results are real, ensuring outputs aren’t just from AI, and verifying that AI’s answers are correct. Further, he explained that new AI advancements typically replace older AI systems, not human jobs.
