Emirates Group Teams Up With Crypto.com to Revolutionize Travel Payments With Digital Assets

Dubai's aviation giant just plugged into the crypto economy—and traditional payment rails should be sweating.

Sky-high ambitions meet blockchain

The Emirates Group inked a deal with Crypto.com to accept cryptocurrency payments for flights and services. No more fumbling with currency conversions when booking that last-minute business class upgrade.

Why this stings legacy finance

While credit card companies still charge 3% on cross-border transactions, crypto settlements finalize in minutes for fractions of a cent. The move signals airlines—historically squeezed by razor-thin margins—are finally bypassing banking middlemen.

The cynical take

Of course Emirates would embrace crypto now—after surviving 2020's travel collapse, they've probably calculated that accepting volatile digital assets is still less risky than relying on pandemic-era travelers. Smart hedge against the next black swan.

Dubai Strengthens Crypto Ecosystem Across Sectors

Just days earlier, the Dubai Land Department also partnered with Crypto.com to digitize real estate transactions. That deal aims to enable tokenized property sales and boost the UAE’s Dh1 trillion real estate target.

Moreover, the UAE already allows citizens to pay government fees using crypto. These partnerships are now moving towards the next logical step—bringing crypto into everyday travel and retail. Besides, industry leaders see this as validation of digital assets’ future in the region.

Following the news, combined with the token’s inclusion in Truth Social’s ETF, Cronos (CRO) price spiked dramatically on crypto exchanges. It surged over 20% in 24 hours, currently priced at $0.09527—as per CoinMarketCap data.
