TON core reveals 2025 roadmap update with kernel upgrades, Tolk 1.0, and BTC integration

TON Core just dropped its 2025 roadmap—and it’s packing heat. Kernel upgrades? Check. The long-awaited Tolk 1.0? Locked in. But the real kicker? Bitcoin integration that’ll make TradFi brokers sweat into their overpriced suits.

Here’s the breakdown:

Kernel Upgrades: The backbone gets a spine transplant. Faster, leaner, and ready to handle the coming flood of institutional money (or at least their Twitter hype).

Tolk 1.0: No more beta-testing patience. The decentralized comms layer goes live—finally giving crypto natives a messaging tool that won’t sell their data to hedge funds.

BTC Integration: Bridges aren’t just for burned-out DeFi projects anymore. TON’s playing nice with Bitcoin, because even maximalists need somewhere to park their bags during bear markets.

One cynical footnote: If this roadmap delivers half what it promises, we might actually see a crypto project hit deadlines before Wall Street hits its next liquidity crisis.

TON Core unveils upgrades to validator tools and APIs

The TON CORE team announced upgrades to the MyTonCtrl tool, which has received six new features, including an easy-to-use installer, a backup recovery tool, support for exporting metrics via Prometheus, and a remote control tool. According to the team, the telemetry data is now collected from all validators at the protocol level, even if they aren’t using MyTonCtrl. New notification tools like the @validators bot and a public notification channel that shows penalty history have also been added.

The validator’s dashboard shows validator distribution, performance metrics, and software versions. Support channels for validators have been improved. TON Proxy is being used to protect validators from DDoS attacks. Archive nodes can now focus on specific shard chains and store limited history. Archive blocks and states are now downloadable via TON Torrents.

The Toncenter API has been improved to make it more friendly for developers and users. The Actions API can recognize and describe transaction patterns more clearly. The Pending API helps track ongoing operations. A system for standardized action IDs has been released to help monitor messages. Streaming APIs now give real-time updates, and the Emulation API lets users test outcomes before messages are sent. The Metadata and Traces APIs also now support TON DNS and get-method IDs.

The development team has upgraded the Layer 2 TON Payment Network, which now supports jettons, extra-currencies, and web-based features. The network is being considered for integration with wallets and services. The TON team has also looked at models like Tycho and released basic tools for sidechain functionality supporting low-latency applications such as games and trading.

TON Core team reveals Tolk 1.0

TON launched Tolk 1.0, a new programming language for securing smart contracts on the TON blockchain. Tolk 1.0 has a simpler syntax, better type systems, and more substantial support for asynchronous tasks. The standard library and contract delivery system were redesigned, and tests have shown up to 50% gas savings compared to existing FunC contracts. The language works with primary development tools and IDEs. TVM updates and improvements to developer tools like plugins, SDKs, build systems, and testing platforms were also released.

BTC Teleport has been integrated, allowing native Bitcoin transfers between the TON blockchain and Bitcoin via smart contracts. TON Core has supported the integration in validator tools, testnet, and mainnet. The team has also taken part in governance and design discussions. The Toncoin Bridge was officially phased out after playing a key role in earlier stages of TON’s development.

TON Proxy has been updated to let users route traffic anonymously and make micro-payments through intermediate nodes. The development team says the routing system helps protect validators and has been extended to TON Sites, Storage, and Torrents. TON Torrents now support faster syncing of archive blocks and states, and this feature is now part of MyTonCtrl version 2.6.0.
