Square Enix Revives Classics with Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake—Because Nostalgia Sells Better Than NFTs
Square Enix just dropped a bombshell for retro RPG fans—Dragon Quest 1 and 2 are getting the HD-2D remake treatment. No release date yet, but expect polished pixel art, modern QoL tweaks, and probably a $70 price tag because ’remastered’ means ’expensive’ these days.
The HD-2D style—pioneered by Octopath Traveler—gives these 1986 and 1987 classics a fresh coat of paint while keeping their old-school charm. Perfect for millennials who still think crypto is a solid investment.
Will it justify the inevitable collector’s edition? Unclear. But it’ll definitely print money—just like Square Enix’s abandoned blockchain phase.
