Regulatory waters part as CFTC Commissioner Caroline Pham launches hunt for prediction markets leadership.

The Call for Visionaries

Caroline Pham isn't just filling a position—she's hunting for architects. The newly announced prediction markets initiative demands leadership that understands both regulatory frameworks and decentralized potential. This isn't about maintaining status quo; it's about building what comes next.

Prediction Markets Meet Regulatory Reality

The initiative represents regulatory evolution in real-time. While traditional finance still debates blockchain basics, the CFTC pushes forward with structured innovation. Finally—someone in government moves faster than a three-day settlement cycle.

Building Bridges or Burning Them?

Pham's move signals recognition that prediction markets could reshape everything from commodity trading to political forecasting. The right CEO could either bridge traditional finance with decentralized futures or create entirely new lanes. Either way, the establishment should be nervous.

Because when regulators start innovating faster than your average hedge fund, maybe the real disruption was the friends we made along the way.

Caroline Pham Announces New CEO Innovation Council

Per a November 25 press release, Pham is requesting that members of the public nominate those who WOULD be a good fit for the CEO Innovation Council, as well as “propose potential topics to prioritize” as the agency looks to expand its prediction markets regulation.

Additionally, Pham is “calling upon CEOs to join us in shaping responsible regulations that will lay the foundation for America’s Golden Age of Innovation.”

“The CFTC stands ready to carry out our mission over expanded markets and products, including crypto and digital assets, and ensure our markets remain vibrant and resilient while protecting all participants,” Pham said. “In order to hit the ground running, it is critical that the CFTC drives public engagement with the support of expert industry leaders and visionaries who are building the future.”

Mike Selig Sees CFTC Nomination Advance

News of Pham’s latest initiative comes nearly a week after the Senate Agriculture Committee voted to advance U.S. President Donald Trump’s CFTC chairman nominee, Mike Selig, to a full Senate vote.

Selig, who most recently led the SEC’s Crypto Task Force as chief counsel, took to X on October 25 to say he was “honored” to spearhead the CFTC.

“With the President’s leadership, a Great Golden Age for America’s Financial Markets and a Wealth of New Opportunities stand before us,” Selig said.

“I pledge to work tirelessly to facilitate Well-Functioning Commodity Markets, promote Freedom, Competition and Innovation, and help the President make the United States the Crypto Capital of the World,” he added.

Meanwhile, Pham previously announced that she would leave the CFTC once a new agency head was sworn in.

Although specifics regarding her future plans have yet to be announced, she is expected to return to the private sector following her resignation.
