Trust Wallet Goes All-In on EIP-7702—Supercharging Ethereum’s Smart Accounts

Why it matters: Account abstraction just got real. Users can now deploy contract-like logic from their regular wallets—gas sponsorships, batch transactions, and recovery options without migrating to a smart contract wallet. The ’normie’ EOA is officially obsolete.

EIP-7702: A New Era for Wallet Design
Proposed by Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin and targeted for inclusion in the Pectra upgrade, EIP-7702 allows EOAs (the most common type of wallet) to temporarily behave like smart contract wallets during a transaction — without needing to deploy a contract or switch account types.
Trust Wallet has already begun integrating this new standard into its infrastructure, paving the way for:
- Gas fee flexibility – Users will soon be able to pay gas using stablecoins or other tokens (e.g. USDT, TWT) on BNB Chain and Ethereum
- One-tap smart transactions – Bundle multiple actions (approve, swap, sign) into a single step
- Sponsored transactions – dApps and partners can cover gas fees to onboard new users
- Automated actions – Subscriptions, DCA, session keys, and more
Most importantly, users will retain full custody and privacy, with no changes to seed phrases or the need to upgrade to smart contract wallets.
Built In-House, End-to-End
Rather than rely on third-party abstractions or SDKs, Trust Wallet has developed a modular AA engine in-house — built to be secure, scalable, and chain-agnostic. The system includes:
