Is there a testnet for Bitcoin?The testnet is an alternative Bitcoin block chain to be used for testing. Testnet coins are separate and distinct from actual bitcoins, and are never supposed to have any value.

I heard that there's a special version of Bitcoin blockchain for testing purposes called testnet. Its coins are different from the real bitcoins and don't have any actual value. Is this true?
