Can Shadow Tyranitar Mega evolve?

I'm a big fan of Pokemon and have been playing the game for years. Recently, I've been wondering if Shadow Tyranitar, one of my favorite characters, has the ability to Mega evolve. I'm hoping to get a clear answer on this.
