Why are Corgis so expensive?

I'm really puzzled about the price of Corgis. They seem to cost a lot more than other dog breeds. I wonder what makes them so expensive. Is it their rarity, their special needs, or something else entirely? I'd like to understand the reasons behind this high cost.
