Macrophage scavenger receptor 1 (MSR1) is a protein that mediates the endocytosis of modified low-density lipoproteins. It plays an important role in various physiological and pathological processes, including antiviral defense, where it activates autophagy to restrict certain virus infections like Chikungunya virus. MSR1 is also involved in atherosclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, and host defense mechanisms.
