How do I pay my EDC?

Once the card is processed by the EDC machine, the card details are encrypted to ensure the security and confidentiality of the transaction. This encryption process is crucial in preventing unauthorized access to sensitive information.

The encrypted card details are then transmitted to the associated payment network, such as Visa, Mastercard, or Rupay. These payment networks act as intermediaries between the merchant and the customer's bank.

The merchant initiates the transaction process by inputting the required amount on the keypad or touchscreen of the Electronic Data Capture (EDC) machine.

Upon receiving the encrypted card details, the payment network verifies the authenticity of the transaction and checks the customer's account balance to ensure sufficient funds are available for the payment.

The customer then proceeds to use their debit or credit card to complete the payment. This involves inserting the card into the card reader slot, swiping it across the magnetic stripe reader, or tapping the card on a contactless-enabled EDC machine.
