Is margin money my money?

Could you please clarify for me if the margin money I'm using in my cryptocurrency trading is actually my own money? I understand that margin trading involves borrowing funds from a broker to increase the potential returns on my investments, but I'm unsure if the money I'm using as margin is essentially my capital, or if it's a loan that I need to repay separately.
