Does FIX use TCP?

I'm curious to know if the Financial Information Exchange (FIX) protocol, which is widely used in the financial industry for the electronic communication of trade-related messages, utilizes the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP). TCP is a CORE protocol of the Internet protocol suite and provides reliable, ordered, and error-checked delivery of a stream of octets between applications running on hosts communicating by an IP network.
