Can you withdraw money from Bitcoin?

Can you actually withdraw money from Bitcoin, or is it more of a digital currency that's only meant to be used online? I've heard that Bitcoin can be converted to other currencies, but I'm not sure if that means I can actually take out cash from it. Is there a way to cash out Bitcoin, or is it just something you use for transactions on the internet? I'm curious to know how it works and if there are any limitations to withdrawing money from Bitcoin.
