Can a veteran wear his uniform to his wedding?

I'm curious, would it be appropriate for a veteran to wear his uniform to his wedding ceremony? Is there a protocol or regulation that governs such attire for special occasions? I understand that military uniforms hold a great deal of significance and respect, so I'm wondering if wearing one to a wedding would be seen as a show of pride or perhaps a disrespectful display.
