How can I 1v1 my friend in Apex?

Hey there, I'm curious to know, how exactly can I engage in a one-on-one match, or what you call a "1v1," with my friend in Apex Legends? I've been playing for a while now, but I'm not quite sure how to set up a private match just between the two of us. Is there a specific mode or setting that I need to select? Or do I need to follow a series of steps to create a custom match just for us? I'd really appreciate it if you could guide me through the process. Thanks in advance!
