How do you explain UX to a layman?

Excuse me, I'm a bit of a layman when it comes to the world of technology and design. Could you please explain to me in simple terms what UX, or user experience, is all about? I've heard it mentioned in relation to websites, apps, and other digital products, but I'm not entirely sure what it entails. Is it something that affects how easy it is to use these things, or is there more to it than that? I'd really appreciate it if you could break it down for me in a way that's easy to understand.
