Is elk going extinct?

I've been hearing a lot of concerns lately about the elk population, and it's making me wonder: is elk really going extinct? It's a beautiful and majestic animal, and I can't imagine the world without them. But with habitat loss, hunting, and other threats, it's hard not to worry. So, what's the current status of the elk population? Are they truly facing extinction, or is there still hope for their survival?
