Is it worth getting into UX?

I've been hearing a lot about UX design lately, and I'm wondering if it's really worth getting into. After all, there are so many other fields in the tech industry to consider. So, here's my question: is UX design really worth pursuing, or is it just another passing fad? And if it is worth it, what kind of skills and knowledge do I need to succeed in this field? I'm really curious to hear your thoughts on this topic.
