Can I use a Suica card in Kyoto?

Good day! I'm curious about something regarding the use of Suica cards in Kyoto. I understand that Suica is a popular payment and transportation card in Tokyo, but I'm planning a trip to Kyoto soon and I'm wondering if I can use my Suica card there as well. Would it be convenient to use for public transportation like buses and trains? And can I also use it for making purchases at stores or restaurants in Kyoto? Your insight would be greatly appreciated!
