Is Star registry fake?

I've been hearing a lot about the Star Registry recently, and I'm curious if it's legitimate or not. The concept of being able to name a star in the sky and have it officially registered seems pretty intriguing, but I'm wondering if it's just a scam. Have you had any experience with the Star Registry, or do you know of any reliable sources that can confirm whether or not it's legitimate? I'd like to make sure I'm not wasting my money on something that's not real before I decide to go through with it.
