Do you have to pay to box?

I'm curious, is there a fee associated with engaging in the sport of boxing? Do competitors need to shell out money in order to step into the ring and compete? Or is it a more accessible activity, where one can simply show up and start practicing without any upfront costs? I'm genuinely interested in understanding the financial side of boxing and whether or not it's a costly endeavor.
