Does SPX index pay dividends?

Excuse me, I was just perusing some information on the SPX index and I had a question. Does the SPX index actually pay out dividends to its investors? I understand that it's a stock market index that tracks the performance of the 500 largest companies in the US, but I wasn't sure if it was similar to stocks in that regard.
