Can I send BSC to MetaMask?

I've been looking into cryptocurrency transactions and I'm wondering if it's possible to send Binance Smart Chain (BSC) tokens to a MetaMask wallet. I understand that MetaMask supports Ethereum-based tokens, but I'm not sure if BSC, being a separate blockchain, can be sent to a MetaMask address. Could you provide some insight into this?
